SOS From Earth

Today, environmental problems become more and more serious. It can be said that one of the biggest causes of the problem is discharging carbon dioxide. For example, it draws acid rain, global warming, ozone depletion, and so on. Of course, everything is result of what human beings do. Now, a lot of people are aware of the danger of the earth. To save their globe, there are some sensible approaches to the problem. Kyoto Protocol is one of them. It is an amendment to the international treaty on climate change, assigning mandatory emission limitations for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to the signatory nations. When the meeting to think about this resolution, it emerged that the north-south problem is one of the sources of the global environmental problem. What’s more, Kyoto Protocol has the issue that USA withdrew from it. This paper will research the two difficult point concerning Kyoto Protocol.

A lot of developing countries are advancing the industrialization without enough measures of environmental problem as former advanced nations. So, the total amount of greenhouse gas that the developing nations exhaust is increases steadily. However the Kyoto Protocol does not refer to these countries to decrease carbon dioxide. The more people drive cars, the more carbon dioxide discharged to earth, and also, the more people eat meat, the more pastures are needed and the deforestation is occurred. The nations that were enough developed are understood the fact that casing too rich and useful life is the cause of global destruction. On the other hand, other countries want to develop economy and improve their lives above all things. There is disagreement between South –side people who don’t have a national commitment to ecology and North-side people who are taking account of keeping an environment. However, it is impossible to solve the global environmental problem without cooperation among the countries. To be compatible environment with exploitation, the sustainable development is demanded. Developed countries have to aid developed countries and the South has to enlarge trading and drive for the independent economy.
　　　Kyoto Protocol was taken effect without USA. The President Bush announced that his country seceded from it because of two following reasons. First, it is disadvantage to American economy if they execute its aim of reducing. Secondly, it is unfair because it does not provide reduction aim of developing countries. It is said that enough effects can not be expected because of nonparticipation of USA. Now, such cope is blamed that it is very self-centered behavior though there are 219 cities that confirm the treaty. The circumstances of each country are different. So, it is important to understand each other and cooperate passing across the border.

There are a lot of problems about global environment because it is difficult to resolve. These matters stick firmly to people’s daily life. We can not live without discharging greenhouse gas including carbon dioxide. North side and South side are in different situations and they cannot be easily pulled together in the same measure. Moreover, it is very serious problem that USA that is world’s biggest outbreak country of carbon dioxide refuses the conclusion of Kyoto Protocol. Since people make economy growth, they have to act something to reduce greenhouse gas and protect their earth. To keep the Kyoto Protocol is one of the necessaries of to resolve the environmental problem on a global scale.
